Conceptual Photography

1.
This photo is of great quality and high in contrast between black and white. This is a strong composition with great clarity.
The quality of this image is great and there is great contrast between light and dark.
The quality of this image is great and this is a very strong composition.
The clarity of this image is astounding and the colors are so beautiful and vibrant.
This photo is very simple and delicate and there is great contrast.

2. Most of these images display "moody" lighting that gives the composition more emotion and meaning. Most of these photographers also used a black and white format for their compositions so their subject is more prevalent, rather than the color becoming a distraction.

3. In the first image there is an 8-ball which means game over when playing pool. In the second photo there are children. In the third photo there is an old man trying to escape death. In the fourth photo there is a small child holding a yellow balloon on the beach posing as the sun. I the fifth photo there is a dead leaf hanging onto a branch for dear life.

4.
The man in this photo appears to be old and tired and he is trying to turn back the clock to when he was young and energetic. But the clock is not budging and the rope is about to break.
The people in this photo appear to be a mother and son who are taking a stroll down the beach. The son has a balloon is his hand which might mean that they just came from the boardwalk.

1. The mood of the woman in the first image is sadness. the model has a blank stare on her face and she looks very upset as if she is staring at some one she in mad at. She is standing up straight and looking at something to the right. The second model appears to be trying to look sexual. She has her head tilted back with her mouth slightly open and she is staring at the camera. She is leaning back and taking a picture of herself.
2. I think these photos were created by a combination of oil paint and photoshop. The models both seem to have oil paint all over their bodies except for their hair, and it looks like the photo was enhanced in photoshop.
3. The colors in the photos are mostly flesh tones and then they accented the shadows with darker paint.
4.I think the artist was trying to make abstract art by using the oil paint all over the models skin. I think the photographer was trying to convey different moods in these photos and i do believe that they were successful.

Q1. Who is Louis Daguerre and why is he so special?  How did he become independently wealthy?
A1. He is the man who invented Daguerreotype photography. He became wealthy when he negotiated a contract with France to sell his invention.

Q2. What types of photos did people take when photography was first invented?  What were some of the difficulties they had to endure?

IS IT ART?

I do believe that this photo is art. Art can be expressed in many different ways; this photo is definitely an abstract composition. I believe that this artist is exploring how he can make portraits more abstract and interesting.

Photo Manipulation

I believe that photo-journalists should absolutely represent their photos accurately. The photos they take end up on the front pages of magazines and newspapers. The photos that people see help form their opinions on the topic. I believe that there is room for expression in journalistic photography. Photo-journalists can express themselves by taking wonderful photos that explain the truth. After reading the none ethical guidelines, I think that it is the photographers job to represent every photo accurately and not alter/edit any of their work.

I want to do a project similar to this website. I would like to try doing abstract food photography and focus on close ups of different foods.

This series of images is very unusual. The artist used edible masks made out of mostly candy to create faces. I’m not quite sure what the artist’s intent was by creating these images. These photos create a series because they all have edible masks made out of similar items. These images are very disturbing to me.

Assignment 1 Creative Photo 2

                                                                                                                        Emma Harb
                                                                                                                        Period 1
                                                                                                                        8-26-14

Photo A- Steve McCully
  •          Photo A is informal and asymmetrical.
  •         There are no converging lines being used.
  •         There is some depth in this photo. You can see that the photographer is in the car and the two girls are outside.
  •          The rule of thirds in not applied in this photo because the girls are not in the center of the image.
  •          The window of the car acts as a frame in this photo.
  •          This photo is clearly spontaneous and the two subjects are the two little girls

Photo B- Annie Leibovitz
  •          Photo B is formal and symmetrical.
  •         There are many converging lines being used in this image.
  •         There is a lot of depth in this photo because of the converging lines.
  •         The rule of thirds is applied in this photo because the woman is in the center of the image.
  •         The background of this photo frames this image.
  •         This photo is definitely posed and the subject is the woman in the center of the photo.

The two photos have one similarity and a few differences. The similarity is that both of the photos have a depressing mood to them. The main differences in these photos are the fact that Photo A is spontaneous and informal and Photo B is posed and formal.
